Abe Cheney was a serial rapist and occasional serial statutory rapist, and a suspect in the rape and impregnation of Katie Tolliver, a woman with Down syndrome.

History[]

Cheney employed young women with special needs to work for him. He would rape them repeatedly, eventually impregnating them, and then pay them to silence them. None of his victims knew what sex was, and to make sure anyone else would not know, he would also tell them that the acts were a form of exercise.

His actions were eventually uncovered when one of his workers Katie Tolliver became pregnant and revealed her encounters with Cheney. He was subsequently brought in but refused to give a DNA sample for paternity test to clear his name, proving his guilt.

After SVU discovered more victims, they confronted Cheney and his lawyer Trevor Langan. ADA Alexandra Cabot told him that he was expecting a son with Katie, before revealing they looked into his finances and found about his other victims. She then told him to accept a deal or face a harsher sentence.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree rape in Katie's rape and was sentenced to ten years in prison. He was also forced to forfeit all of his assets to each of his victims and the children he sired with them. (SVU: "Competence")

Known Victims[]

  • Katie Tolliver (raped repeatedly and impregnated)
  • Mary Ann (raped repeatedly and impregnated)
  • Four unnamed women (all raped repeatedly and impregnated)
