Adam Nesbit is a teenage boy who murdered his younger brother Jacob out of mercy due to the psychotic views of his mother Marilyn.

When Marilyn was being investigated for child neglect, Marilyn told Adam that Jacob would be raped and abused in foster care. Adam then shot Jacob to death in order to save him from that abuse and fled with Marilyn to a friend's place, leaving Jacob's body in their apartment.
In the end, Adam was not charged due to the circumstances of Jacob's death, as well as Adam's older brother Daniel, who he initially believed was dead, telling him what Marilyn was saying was untrue, while Marilyn was imprisoned for her role in the murder. Adam then subsequently went to live with his older brother. (SVU: "Home")
