Captain Al Norton was the head of campus security at Hudson University while Judge Charles Gallagher was investigated for rapes and sexual assaults of students on the campus. Norton refused to help to keep his job, saying the cops had to go through the chain of command like he does every day.
When Gallagher was put on trial, the campus gave up memos to be used as evidence. Gallagher was imprisoned when confessing to rape on an audio recording. (SVU: "The Long Arm Of The Witness")
