Alex Boone is a murdered American freelance journalist and former political prisoner of China, who planned an exposé that got him killed.
History[]
Alex wrote a freelance condemnation against the consequences of the Three Gorges Dam in China, due to its floods killing millions of citizens. The government ordered Alex’s arrest, where he was sentenced to life without parole for espionage and brutalized in prison. The U.S. State Department made a deal with China that included Alex’s release during the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. He married Chinese-American citizen Liu Kang, but he had to live on his own due to his PTSD.
Alex planned on a major comeback to hit China hard and get the revenge he wanted for his wrongful imprisonment. Coming across the espionage imprisonment of American defense contractor employee Martin Garvik, he found the agent in China he supposedly communicated with, Wang Chu, and realized Chu described Martin’s wife Elise, whose parents were sympathizers of China and who Martin took the fall for.
Alex contacted David Sutton, Martin’s and Elise’s son, offering clearing Martin’s name, but meeting at the Sino-American Institute, David was furious to find out Alex would dishonor Elise and splashed him with wine before leaving. Alex made the mistake to call Tracy Meegan, the daughter of the family, to tell her what he knew, and she flipped from the threat to her family. She ordered their former limo driver, Mike Adams, who had a criminal history, to execute Alex, so he stalked Alex and shot him twice in the back of his head in a public park. Liu saw Adams and fled before she was next, and Adams later stole Alex’s evidence against the family.
David nearly took the fall when Liu led the police to him, but when the truth came forward, Tracy was arrested instead. (L&O: "Take-Out")
