Detective Andy Parlato-Goldstein is a detective with the Hate Crimes Division, reporting to Captain Declan Murphy.

Background[]

Parlato-Goldstein was born to an Italian mother and a Jewish father. (SVU: "Silent Night, Hateful Night") He went to Hudson University and was a member of the Bishop Club, a final club there. As a member of the club, he helped invent a drinking game called "Zoom Schwartz-Parlato-Goldstein" that the members were playing up until 2022, though he himself had quit drinking sometime after college. On SVU[]

Parlato-Goldstein and the rest of the Hate Crimes Division worked with the Special Victims Unit, under Tommy McGrath's request, to solve a series of hate crimes on Christmas Eve. Parlato-Goldstein contributed greatly to the investigation. (SVU: "Silent Night, Hateful Night")

When Detective Amanda Rollins and Sergeant Odafin Tutuola investigate a rape allegation against the Bishop Club, they find out that Parlato-Goldstein had been a member. He helps them investigate the club, going back to their house as a distinguished alum and wear a recording device to gather evidence against them. Although welcomed warmly, he was secretly disgusted by the young men's disrespect of women and their intent to rape. The club members are arrested while voicing resentment at Parlato-Goldstein for his betrayal while he calls them on their callous treatment of women. All of the members were taken to court but make bail. They then put-up displays hoping to disparage their accuser, and he makes the suggestion that the DA's office attach a hate crime charge to rape. He took part in the interrogation of Austin Drake, where Drake's lawyer Elana Barth Barth mocks Det. Parlato-Goldstein for his previous membership to the Bishop Club but Parlato-Goldstein wasn't fazed by this, pointing out that the Bishop Club of the past didn't target girls for rape. When an angry Drake makes bigoted comments to Parlato-Goldstein, he is clearly angry, but Barth stops her client and ADA Dominick Carisi, Jr. tells him to keep going so he could pursue hate crime charges.
