Angela Wheatley was the ex-wife of businessman and crime boss Richard Wheatley. She was his accomplice in most of the crimes he committed. She was briefly involved with Detective Elliot Stabler, as well as a suspect in the murder of Kathy Stabler.

History

Angela informed Richard that the Organized Crime Control Bureau were investigating the murder of Stabler's wife Kathy and acted suspicious about whether he was Kathy's murderer or not. She also acted frosty toward Richard's wife Pilar, who also bullied and taunted Angela, which Richard tried to stop. Both her and Stabler were also shot at by a group of people driving past them in the streets while they walked but both were unhurt. (OC: "What Happens in Puglia")

As time went on, Stabler and Angela became closer, with Angela even buying groceries for Stabler and his son Eli so Eli could eat something else besides takeaway food, which Stabler kept buying due to his grieving. (OC: "Say Hello To My Little Friends")

Stabler finds out from Richard's bodyguard Izak Bekher that Angela was the one who organized for Kathy to be murdered. (OC: "An Inferior Product")

Stabler arrested Angela for the murder of Kathy. Angela then asked the Organized Crime Control Bureau for help to arrest Richard for his crimes. She also told Stabler that the reason she killed Kathy was because she believed Stabler shot her son Rafiq dead in an anti-drug operation and that she wanted him to suffer for what he did instead of killing him. (OC: "I Got This Rat")

Angry and out for revenge, Richard injected poison into Angela before bribing Diego Morales 2 million dollars to take her away. Stabler, Bell and Benson attend to a seizing Angela, while Stabler yells for help. (OC: "Forget It Jake; It's Chinatown")

Angela survived the poisoning and went home feeling vulnerable and sorry for herself. Bell visited her one night while she sat on the couch wrapped up in a blanket and asked her to testify against Richard. (OC: "The Man With No Identity")

Just before Christmas 2021, Angela and Dana ordered a neighbor of a girl named Mia Zabatino to murder her while Eli was sleeping at her place, making it look like Eli murdered her. After it was discovered that Eli did not murder her, he was acquitted of any wrongdoing but was left traumatized by his ordeal. When Stabler and Bell went to question her and Dana, Angela acted like she was still suffering from memory loss. When they left, Dana came out of her hiding spot and asked her mother what they wanted. Angela told Dana that she thinks it'd be a good idea if she went away for a while and said Richard could organize something. (OC: "The Christmas Episode")

Angela was driving herself and Richard Wheatley to their private plane to escape. However, when Stabler tells her that he had killed her son Richie, she drove the two of them off a cliff in an act of suicide on her part. Angela's body was later recovered at the bottom of the cliff in the car while Richard's was absent. (OC: "...Wheatley Is To Stabler")

Personality

Angela comes across as a kind, sympathetic woman but deep down, she is extremely vengeful as shown as by getting revenge on Stabler by making him suffer mentally instead of killing him. She also goes to rather large lengths to feign care for others, such as buying Stabler groceries so Eli Stabler wouldn't have to continue to eating fast food. She is also very assertive and always calls out her husband on his abusive actions towards him. After almost being murdered by her husband, she became rather vulnerable. Despite wanting to make Stabler miserable, she also has romantic feelings towards him, seducing him several times and being upset when he arrested her for Kathy's murder instead of coming over for a romantic night. She is also fully aware of Richard's criminal actions but chooses to ignore it and deal with it. However, unlike Richard, she shows no signs of being a psychopath or sociopath.
