Law and Order

Anna Gable is a woman who recalled the murders committed by Sheldon Kerrick, albeit incoherently due to her dementia from drugs.

History[]

Anna's father died in 1961 when she was young, leaving Anna's mother to take a boyfriend in to their distant Rockland County farmhouse, later revealed to be Kerrick under the alias "Robert Sawyer" and working in plumbing and other hardware. Even before Anna's mother died in 1977, Kerrick raided the medicine cabinets of the homes he worked in and drugged Anna with whatever he chose. While she was roofied, Kerrick would repeatedly sexually assaulted for years during her childhood. The drugs coupled with rape trauma left Anna descending into drug addiction, usually ecstasy. When Anna's mother died, she passed the house on to her daughter, but Kerrick used it as his base for the murders he would commit. Anna and Kerrick's accomplice and maintenance subordinate, Carlos Guzman were forced into silence about Kerrick murdering a boy in 1970 and kidnapping and murdering four more boys in 1979 while Anna was in the state hospital, dispersing the locations they were all buried. Carlos fell in love with Anna and wanted to rescue her, but Kerrick kept them apart and threaten each teen that he'd kill the other if they disobeyed him. Kerrick lied that he followed through with his threats to separate them and keep himself from getting caught, especially when losing it when finding out Carlos told Anna everything about the crimes, despite her still saying she loved him back no matter what.

When one of the four missing boys was found skeletonized in a quarry, Anna revealed to her psychiatrist, Dr. Indira Singh, that she was a witness to the murders after reading an obituary of Kerrick's murders in the newspaper, and was later admitted to York Hospital due to side effects of her addiction. She seemed incoherent and unreliable, because she said the first boy Kerrick killed was her brother and Kerrick was her father. But she later revealed precise details never released to the public, such as a blanket cut in half Kerrick burned with a cigarette. Detectives and forensic analyst Millie Vizcarrondo, whose father never solved the first murder, found out Kerrick was a boyfriend of Anna's mother, and finding the farmhouse led to finding the three remaining boys reduced to skeletons under the floorboards of the gazebo.

Carlos was interrogated, and he admitted to being an accomplice, unable to put up with his grief and shame. He revealed Kerrick's threats, and his later lies, but was shocked and overwhelmed finding out Anna was alive. Meeting her again, he held her hand while recounting Anna being drugged and sexually abused, which Carlos remembered Kerrick was always amused by. Remembering Carlos when seeing him again, Anna mumbled "he said he killed you", before Carlos emotionally kissed her hand. When Anna revealed Kerrick took the identity of dead man, his fingerprints were matched and he was arrested.

Anna and Carlos were never charged, left to be together and pick up the pieces of their lives. (SVU: "Name")
