In 2009, Annette was raped by Luke Ronson, but the prosecution was delayed for two years. Prior to the opening of the trial, Annette had taken her daughter shopping for a prom dress. As they were walking down the sidewalk, a mugger attempted to snatch her purse. She resisted the thief, but at the urging of her daughter, she relinquished the purse. At that moment, the thief drew a pistol on Annette and fired a single shot to her forehead, killing her. (SVU: "Smoked")
