Antonio Duran was the boss of the Duran Gang.
History[]
Duran was born in Cuba and was among the Mariel refugees who fled to Miami in 1980. He was a drugs dealer that the feds arrested, but they couldn't prove he was responsible for a few murders, leading to his four years imprisonment for drugs possession. At prison, he managed to stab to death an inmate who "snitched" about him to the guards, and served 16 more years due to it. After 20 years running his drugs business from inside the prison, he is released and moves out of Florida to New York City (where his daughter, whom he traced with commercial 99$ DNA testing kit, and grandson live).
Bernanda Menendez, who is Duran's lover and 2nd in command, and Cristobal Ruiz, Duran's bodyguard, introduced Whelan to Duran, Duran had him kicked out because he punched a cop. Whelan was then taken off the case and replaced by Stabler, who went undercover as a buyer to make a deal with Duran. Stabler attempted to get Duran's trust in order to extract information out of him which could prove him guilty. However, Duran gets suspicious of Stabler and has Bernanda follow him and stalk him.
After Duran arranges a shooting in Washington Heights of Esteban and 4 other civilians, where 2 dies, Stabler deals with two Miami detectives who are investigating Duran. Stabler then meets with Duran where they arrange to do business. After Stabler found Cristobal injured in the bar, the two Miami detectives entered the bar and shot Cristobal to death.
After arresting Bernanda for kidnapping and drug dealing, Whelan manages to get Bernanda to turn against Duran. Bernanda, while wired, then met with Duran and kissed him before trying to get him to confess to his crimes. When Duran denied his involvement, Bernanda shot him to death in front of the cops and his grandson. (OC: "The Infiltration Game")
