Quotes[edit | edit source]

Olivia Benson: You okay?
Ray Gunther: No...
Olivia Benson: Good!

William Langdon: Homosexuality is not natural it is a crime against God.
Elliot Stabler: And AIDS is divine retribution.
William Langdon: Are you being flippant with me?

Ray Gunther: What's wrong? You jealous, sweetheart?
Olivia Benson: Easy.
Elliot Stabler: Not sweetheart. That's Detective Benson. All right? I want an apology from you.
Olivia Benson: I don't need an apology from this slimebag.

Elliot Stabler: Don't make anymore barbs about Benson's father.
John Munch: Excuse me.
Elliot Stabler: You don't know the history there?
John Munch: No. What? Is he an alcoholic? Deadbeat dad? Jehovah's Witness?
Elliot Stabler: The only thing she knows about him is he was the man who raped her mother.

John Munch: You don't think that Newt's problems had anything to do with his ethics violation or him being a pedantic megalomaniac who espouses family values while serving his cancer-stricken wife with divorce papers while she's on her hospital deathbed? Did it ever occur to you?
Donald Cragen: Anybody know where Cassidy is?

Background information and notes[edit | edit source]

  • Detective John Munch tries to help fellow Detective Olivia Benson with the search for her father. Benson quickly establishes that the suspect isn't the man she has been looking for. She will eventually find her father and her half-brother in the episode "Philadelphia" from season eight.
  • The end footage of Olivia looking up at the man in the window is used as the flashback for the Season 14 episode 5 "Manhattan Vigil".
  • According to Steven Hale, the scandal of having an openly homosexual son would be damaging for William Langdon. He claims that a lesbian sister caused Newt a lot of damage. John Munch corrects him by saying that she was actually his half-sister. Hale refers to Newt Gingrich, a politician who served as the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. His half-sister, Candace Gingrich, is a gay and lesbian rights activist. (Source: Candace Gingrich at Wikipedia)
