Ben Hadley, Jr. is the son of Dr. Benjamin and Sharon Hadley, and the husband of Sylvia Hadley. At the time of his wife's death, she was two months pregnant with his half-brother, who was fathered by Ben's own father.

When he sticks to his story about being in Baltimore, Cragen brings in Jeffries with the DNA results: a piece of skin from Sylvia's fingernails and throttled neck belonged to Ben, but the semen found inside of her belonged to Dr. Hadley. Wanting to know what was going on, Cragen tells him to ask his father, since it's his sperm and asks if Ben wants to make a statement.
Ben became enraged at his father and reveals he had been suspicious for some time. When the trip came up, he followed. When it took her five minutes to answer the hotel door, she said she was sleeping and he wanted to know with who, causing her to laugh, thought he was being paranoid and usually putting him down with putdowns, such as 'The only original thought Ben ever had' or 'The only job Ben would get was at his daddy's college'. He grabbed her shoulder, wanting to shake some sense into her, but went limp and then put his hands around her neck, choking her.
He and his lawyer leave, as Ben tells his father he always had to make everything right and can't believe he went to him to fix this because he was the root cause. He hugs his mother as he was leaving.
