Ben Karmel is the murderer of his baby brother, Evan.

Ben couldn’t stand his father Warren needing his time put more to his infant second son Evan. Knowing his family’s babysitter Lila Crenshaw was exasperated by Evan, as well as bought pesticide for her plants, Ben stole the poison and killed Evan with it.
Lila was taken to trial, which resulted in a mistrial on the first try. However, Ben was revealed to have killed Evan, when he lied he even saw the pesticide, before Lila even bought it. When he was confronted on the stand, the judge took him to her chambers, and after informing him of his rights, he confessed anyway.
Ben was found guilty of murder and imprisoned. (L&O: “Homesick”)
