Benno Gilbert is a fashion designer and the brother of fashion photographer and serial rapist Alvin Gilbert. Benno would constantly cover for Alvin just to save their shared business, despite always secretly disdaining Alvin.

When Sally Landry was raped and Alvin's assistant Nora Wattan took pictures as blackmail, Alvin was finally taken to trial. The entire company tried to blame Sally's abusive boyfriend and manager, Matt Kroger. Especially after Kroger threatened the brothers at gunpoint and demanded a payout, Benno and Alvin accused Kroger of raping Sally, then blaming Alvin to get the payout.
When Alvin was later shot dead in the back of his studio, after going through all the suspects, it was revealed Benno killed Alvin, finally being fed up with the cover-ups. Benno was arrested and imprisoned for murder, along with charges such as conspiracy and obstruction of justice. (SVU: "Fashionable Crimes")
