Bill Nolan is a television documentarian whose coverage of Dr. David Lingard, a convicted euthanasia specialist, was one of his biggest successes. As a result, he returned to Lingard for a TV special on him once he was released from prison.
Assisted suicides matching Lingard's M.O. came to light, with Lingard's own daughter Mila Hames Lingard being suspected. Nolan, who was recorded on tape with one of the victims, was arrested after Mila claimed that he coerced the suicides. However, it was Mila who really set up the deaths of two men, hoping to get Nolan framed as revenge for him profiting off the success of her father's trial and imprisonment.
Nolan was eventually cleared of all charges and released, while Mila got a mistrial when her own father sabotaged it by committing suicide on the stand. (L&O: "Called Home")
