Bob Carpenter is one of two owners of a clothing line titled Bipolar Roller, along with his brother Grant. The face of their business, homeless busker Jonah Applebaum, was their target in a murder attempt so they'd sell the business for expansion after getting him out of the picture. Not knowing his signature Olympic skates were worn by his friend Paco, they killed Paco and two other homeless men witnessing the murder, also nearly killing the girlfriend, Mary, of one of the men, Chip Hudson.
Knowing Applebaum was a serial killer, they used the fan site based on his murders to mutilate the remains of all three men. Applebaum was arrested for his killings, but he refused to take medicine so he could testify against the brothers. When he was forced to, he lucidly revealed the Carpenters were targeting him.
Bob took a plea deal and was imprisoned primarily for murder two, attempted murder one, and false incrimination. Applebaum was institutionalized to get treatment until he was no longer a danger. (L&O: "Skate or Die")
