Detective Brad Kendall was a dirty cop and major enforcer of a drug ring under the orders of Keith Gerard, the ultimate resource to stave off Internal Affairs and who the Special Victims Unit tricked into slipping to take down the operation.

History[]

Kendall was a highly decorated Manhattan Narcotics detective, even with a combat cross for dodging the shots of two robbers and shooting and killing them both in the line of duty. For reasons and by means never specified, Kendall was contacted by drug ring leader Keith Gerard with a proposition of being a crucial enforcer and mole in the NYPD to cover the drug ring, which Kendall accepted and quickly acclimated to the organized operations. Frank Barry, a lower level drug dealer, was his right-hand man and additional muscle and contact to find and blackmail new clients and accomplices.

Ed Tucker and the rest of the IAB realized when the operations kept missing the ring that a cop on the inside was a mole, thus taking major point in the case. SVU caught onto the case when Jawan Hauser died from the drugs when they weren't watched, as they were mistaken for baby formula due to the fake canister it was in. When Tucker had office accomplice Derek Pfeiffer detained for questioning, Gerard gave Kendall instructions to bypass security when Pfeiffer was released, choking him to death with a cord in the bathroom and making a just as discreet escape.

When the bureau and unit agreed to work together, Elliot Stabler was sent undercover to reach Barry, who led him to Kendall that night. Kendall abducts Stabler in an "arrest" and beats him a few times, threatening to imprison him for life if he doesn't go along with the operation or sells it out, socking his gut for not being as shaken as Kendall wanted and throwing his fake wallet out the window before leaving.

To prevent another violent surprise like that, the teams arrange for a public meeting in a restaurant, with Kendall reluctantly showing up. Stabler intimidates him with knowing he's not at the top of the food chain and insists on more information to get an understanding on why Kendall's desperate to blackmail him. The dirty detective doesn't reveal for information, but he does arrange a job of smuggling tiles filled with cocaine in from Mexico City into the fake Forest Hills "home". Kendall arrives with the shipment on the due date, but the responders arrive too early and surprise Kendall into running while pulling his weapon. Stabler announces himself and demands Kendall dropping the revolver. Refusing to surrender and leaving Stabler with the investigative scrutiny, he aims the revolver to provoke suicide by cop, which confuses Stabler at first on why he had to shoot Kendall.

Gerard is alerted by the disaster and kills Barry and several of the other cronies in the drug ring, only to be found out and stopped from taking a woman and her baby hostage to arrest him. (SVU: "Risk")
