Brian Harris is a defense attorney who is best known for represent Kyle Swanson and Kendra Daniels after each of them were arrested for murder. Both cases involved racial disparities, especially between victims and murderers, which were used in defenses in court.

History[]

After Swanson was arrested, Swanson called Harris and asked him to meet him at the precinct. At arraignment, Harris argued that if Swanson was guilty then the charge should be manslaughter two but the judge dismissed his argument. Harris did the best he could to represent Swanson but Swanson was found guilty of the murder. (L&O: "Wicked Game")

Daniels defended herself by saying she feared off-duty detective Jimmy Doyle was racist, so she shot at him when she chased after him. She was confronting Scott Gleacher, an older white man in a relationship with her little sister Regina, and Harris tried to argue because Daniels is black and Gleacher is white, she was justified out of fear for her life. The case was heavily politicized, especially with other cops livid over Doyle's shooting and wanting a strong conviction. Harris successfully had Daniels' conviction reduced to manslaughter two to reduce her prison sentence and other penalties. (L&O: "Black and Blue")
