Law and Order

Bruno Johnson is a cop killer responsible for the murder of Officer Ray Hernandez, which was specifically defined by aiming above Hernandez's Kevlar vest. Johnson suffered 41 out of 86 shots fired by responding officers who were all there to arrest Johnson on an outstanding warrant. Public outrage resulted in campaigns by the defense led by Mike LaSalle for legal absolution, a civil suit worth $20 million, and Johnson marrying his girlfriend for a life with their child.

FBI Agent Frederick Merriweather reveals Johnson was an informant investigating police corruption, with transcripts of evidence against Hernandez read by him in court. However, Johnson's harrowing testimony was a lie due to the timing of the shots he described being disproven from an audio recording. After the jury first hangs from one juror holding out for Johnson, they all vote for guilty, and Johnson is imprisoned. The officials outside the courtroom rejoice from the news. (TBJ: "41 Shots")
