Carmen Elizabeth Ejogo (born October 22, 1973 in Kensington, London, England) is a British actress who played April Lannen in the Law & Order season 18 episode "Burn Card".
Ejogo twice played Coretta Scott King: in 2014's Selma (featuring Ruben Santiago-Hudson) and the 2001 HBO movie Boycott (featuring CCH Pounder, Reg E. Cathey, Iris Little Thomas, and Mike Hodge). She also worked with Santiago-Hudson on the HBO film version of his autobiographical stage play Lackawanna Blues (featuring S. Epatha Merkerson, Ernie Hudson, Delroy Lindo, Rosie Perez, and Charlayne Woodard).
Ejogo also appeared in the films Metro, What's The Worst That Could Happen? (featuring Glenne Headly, Larry Miller, and Nora Dunn), Alex Cross, The Purge: Anarchy (with Frank Grillo, Zach Gilford, and Michael K. Williams), and Sparkle (featuring Michael Beach).
She is also known for her role as Seraphina Picquery in the Fantastic Beasts film series (with Ezra Miller). She plays Bria Jones on the Starz anthology drama series The Girlfriend Experience. She plays Amelia Reardon in the HBO series True Detective (with Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Josh Hopkins, and Michael Rooker).
Ejogo was married American actor Jeffrey Wright, whom she met while making the HBO film Boycott in 2000. They have a son (Elijah) and a daughter (Juno). Ejogo and Wright divorced in 2014.
