D.A. Cassandra Drakos is the chief prosecutor of Queens who oversaw the grand larceny trial of Libby Blandon, who had previously been a rape victim.

History[]

Detective Nadia Szabo came under fire for using DNA evidence from Libby's rape exam, taken after her assault by Henry Mesner, in order to arrest her. Aware that Szabo's actions would set a dangerous precedent that would render the NYPD unapproachable for rape victims, Benson and Lorraine Maxwell confront Drakos to discuss dropping the trial regarding procedure. Initially, Drakos refused to drop the case as she refused to let Libby get a pass for her crimes, but she eventually realized that carrying out her plan could endanger her own career. In a play to cover her jurisdiction, and to save face, she publicly shifted blamed towards the company OCME, saying she'd investigate their activities and advocate for laws to make rape kit evidence illegal for prosecution. However, in doing so, the charges on Libby were dropped. (SVU: "Tangled Strands of Justice")
