Law and Order

Dr. Charles Blanchard is a narcissistic and unfaithful lab director suspected of infecting his latest mistress, Jeannine Wilson, with a deadly SARS strain, purportedly in an attempt to kill her out of revenge for her wanting to break up with him. She survived, but their immunocompromised son Tanner died. After numerous other people were infected, he sent technician Anna Hopkins to dispose of the sample, but she was killed by carjacker Lamont Tyler. Blanchard denied involvement and tried to paint Anna, a Saudi-born American, as a bioterrorist.

Blanchard was eventually found out and arrested, but Elaine, in spite of her personal offense over the entire disaster, perjured her testimony about her husband's alibi, but then pretended that the truth was the real perjury to confuse the jury. Blanchard was acquitted, and the couple walked out hand in hand. (L&O: "Patient Zero")
