Charlotte Truex is the rebellious teenage daughter of mob lawyer Sidney Truex. She defied his orders to keep away from her adult boyfriend, Ryan Bedford, as well as not attend "pharming parties", or drug-passing gatherings, with her classmates.

History[]

When Charlotte and Bedford went her mother Maura's house to get more drugs while still high, Bedford tried to threaten Maura for the drugs he wanted that were in the house. When that failed, Bedford raped her with a candlestick and beat her to death with it while Charlotte watched in a shocked drug stupor. When Sidney and the Truex son, Tommy, came home, Bedford smashed glass on Truex's head, causing Tommy to hit the panic button to alert the cops and hide in the panic room. Charlotte, despite her heartbreak over her family's attack and Tommy's terror, goes back to Bedford's apartment with her impaired judgment.

Forgetting the previous night, she's horrified to be noted of her family's assault, going with the detectives to be with Tommy, who's scared of her and ends up casting suspicion on her unintentionally. She becomes more of a suspect with her rebellious life being discovered as well as the drug parties she attended. She refused to believe it and affirms she would've remembered. But her bloody clothes put suspicion on her. In her shocked grief and confusion, she falsely says she was guilty to her reflection, before punching and smashing the one-way interrogation window to cut her arm. The detectives stopped her bleeding and carted her to the hospital.

When she was arrested, Sidney, livid with the detectives' interrogation of her, represents her with an insanity plea based on her drug addiction. But Bedford's soon figured out as the violent burglar, and Tommy positively identifies him. In an effort to arrest him, Elliot Stabler chased and fought Bedford, causing him to die from a heart attack from the stress. To clear his name and Charlotte's, Olivia Benson convinced Sidney to give Charlotte a barbiturate memory recall. In a hypnotic state, Charlotte recalled the series of events Dr. George Huang, identifying Ryan Beford as the true killer. Sidney was left relieved that his daughter was innocent all along, having believed that she was truly the killer. While the interview was inadmissible in court, it was enough to convince ADA Casey Novak who dropped the charges against Charlotte. Stabler was subsequently cleared from Bedford's heart arrhythmia being identified as the cause of death. (SVU: "Dependent")
