Claudia Duffy is the pregnant widow of fireman Ian Duffy. Ian was secretly gay and was having an affair with Brendan Keele, his partner in civil servant advocacy. Claudia only knew he was seeing someone else and convinced him to end the affair for their unborn child. Claudia was a witness to Ian saving drag queen Chanteuse Johnson from three teens bashing queer people. Shortly after, Ian drove to his fire house with stab wounds all over his body, dying at the scene.
After the teens were arrested and ruled out, detectives found out Ian's orientation from a gay bar he frequented. Claudia knew about the affair, but she was in denial about his orientation. The firemen stood up for and tried to protect her, as their community was very closely knit. But Claudia led the police to Ian's killer, Keele, after mentioning his activism, leading to Keele being revealed as Ian's lover. Claudia watched Keele get dragged away while confessing in a sting, screaming he hated Ian was staying with Claudia because they were having a baby. She didn't care about the papers getting the story, as she would be glad to tell her child Ian lived and died a hero. (CI: "Maltese Cross")
