A comedian's words prove to be dangerous when a student is assaulted by his fans.
Summary[]
Popular comedian Josh Galloway is faced with student protesters after a set at Tompkins Square University. His demeaning jokes about women and rape become more serious when a student is assaulted by two of Galloway's fans. Though Barba can't arrest him for speaking his mind, he charges the SVU to find proof that Galloway's actions reflect his words. When TSU student Carly Rydell accuses Galloway of rape, Sergeant Benson is happy to arrest him. But Barba finds major roadblocks in the he-said she-said case, and thinks Benson should have chosen her battle more carefully. Meanwhile, a detective from Chicago seeks help from the NYPD.
Plot[]
While SVU investigates Josh, Detective Erin Lindsay from the Chicago Police Department comes to ask for help for a case involving women ending up killed, sexually assaulted, and their right ears cut off. Benson tells her that Fin and Rollins had investigated a similiar set of crimes in New York, but the trail went cold. She tells Lindsay that her boss, Sergeant Hank Voight, thinks she is a smart detective and will figure it out.

Quotes[]
- [about Renee Clark after she was assaulted by two guys]
- Barba: I can ask for a temporary restraining order, but maybe she should change dorms.
- Benson: Ah, so it's the victim who should change her life?
- [after seeing Josh Galloway's stand-up act]
- Benson: Anybody else need a shower? He's vile.
- Cassidy: He's baiting you, Liv.
- Tutuola: Master baiting.
- Barba: Oh, great, this isn't just grey, it's satyagraha grey.
- Josh Galloway: Life is my material. Our screwed up culture: racism, incest, rape. If you don't joke about it, you cry.
- Benson: So, the end of the day, it was the right thing to do to bring this case.
- Barba: Don't fish. You snatched a tie out of the jaws of defeat. You want to stay commanding officer, I want you to stay commanding officer. Don't bring me cases like this.
Background information and notes[]
- Detective Erin Lindsay from Chicago P.D. appears as part of a crossover event that concludes with the Chicago P.D. episode "Conventions". Fin and Rollins go to Chicago to help investigate the case.
