Country Jones is a restaurant owner who was accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering a series of female sex workers and keeping their mummified bodies.
History[]
Jones had an arrest record on Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he was arrested for assault with a baseball bat, which Jones always argued was self-defense. He moved into New York City ten years before the episode, then returned to South Carolina because his father died. Three years before the episode, he opened a restaurant that catered to at-risk people, including the victims of serial killer Trace Lambert, which made him a suspect.
Jones was shown the pictures of the women's mummified bodies and expressed horror at their fate. Jones denied being the one who killed them before recognizing a few of them and soon cried, as he realizes that he unintentionally brought upon their deaths by dropping them to their dates. SVU noted with his behavior towards the deaths that he was likely not the suspect they were looking for especially when it turns out he was in prison at the time of one of the girls' abduction.
He was eventually exonerated after the real culprit, Trace Lambert, was arrested after confessing to the murders. (SVU: "They'd Already Disappeared")
