Dale Kershaw (alias Tagger) was one of the prime suspects in the murder of delivery man Matthew Wheeler.

History[]

Dale and his friend Joey Timon desired to kill someone just to see what it felt like. The two bought a gun, which their friend Adele showed them how to load. Afterwards, they ordered four large buckets of chicken on a payphone and gave the delivery man the address of an abandoned shop. When the delivery man, Matthew Wheeler, arrived, he asked Dale for directions. At that moment, Joey started shooting him. When he drove off, Dale took the gun from Joey and ran after him, shooting him until he died.

Dale and Joey were eventually located by police at a park they usually hung out at. But Dale managed to outrun them. However, he was eventually captured and remanded to Rikers. Since an eyewitness had only seen one guy shooting at Matthew, his and Joey's attorneys decided to create reasonable doubt by having each one of them point the finger at the other.

When Joey's confession to his role in the shooting to his priest uncle is caught on tape, a judge rules that the tape cannot be used against him due to the laws of confession, but the tape can be used in Dale's defense. As a result, Dale's attorney decides to severe the trials. But this proves to be a mistake, as now the District Attorney can try them simultaneously and argue two different theories of the crime (either Joey shot the delivery man or Dale did). Because of this, Joey decides to take a plea deal and testifies against Dale.

Dale is found guilty of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second-degree and sentenced to thirty-to-life. His accomplice is sentenced to twenty-to-life.
