Daniel Garrett is the kidnapper and murderer of social media blogger Amanda Larson.

History[]

Garrett was considered a "loser" even by his high school class, such as classmate Lisa Element, who turned Garrett down for prom and was lured up to his cousin's cabin under the ruse of a "party" being there. She ran for her life when Garrett was revealed to really be trying to get her alone and attack her. Garret used twelve aliases and resumes on countless different websites and left a trail as a result. He failed to cement relationships with numerous women online, brutalizing them when they rejected Garrett and even once attempting to kidnap someone at knifepoint.

Garrett was tracked and arrested on suspicion of stalking, kidnapping, and murdering Larson, Bernard and Cosgrove finding materials that was presumed to have been used in disposing of her remains. Without Larson's body, the legal team struggled to establish a case, especially since the judge rejected the motion for presenting his predisposition to violence with the women whom he attacked after they rejected him. However, Lisa found Amanda's missing shoe at the cabin and brought it to the police, as well as testified on the stand.

Garrett and his lawyer offered a plea to manslaughter in exchange for leading them to Amanda's body. Amanda's parents pleaded for them to take a plea to manslaughter so their daughter could be found, but DA McCoy was sternly against outcomes that weren't a conviction for the maximum sentence since Garrett was a threat to public safety. As a result, EADA Price and ADA Maroun made it all the way to closing arguments. Garrett was subsequently found guilty of kidnapping and murder and imprisoned for life, while Amanda's body was never found. (L&O: "Filtered Life")
