Danny Sussman is the widower and suspected murder facilitator of Kelly Sussman.

History[]

Danny is the son of Ursula Sussman, who inherited the family kosher foods business from Danny’s late father. His father gained respect from the Jewish community for assisting international Jews into the United States for sanctuary from persecution and murder. Danny and Kelly conceived their first child before they were married, and since Kelly was Catholic, she was bribed by Ursula, who held domineering influence over Danny, to convert to Judaism for the family.

Danny turned to an albeit sexless affair with former stripper Sandi Tortomassi, with whom he ran Pearl’s Strip Club. He funded it with his Firefly Enterprises subsidiary, but as loans for the club put the family into debt, he had to embezzle from the family’s funds, leading to Ursula realizing what happened. She pretended to be Kelly to make Sandi break up with Danny, then made Danny confess his unfaithfulness to Kelly to save the marriage and family’s dignity.

Kelly was done and wanted divorce, consulting how to safely gain custody of her kids through Jewish law. As she needed witnesses, yet no one would turn on the Sussman family, she blackmailed Ursula with revealing her bribery to have the divorce go in her favor. Ursula hired mobster Louis "Big Louis" Bernoff to kill Kelly with drug addict Nicky Ross, then place Kelly’s necklace in Sandi’s home to frame her, hoping to keep the remaining family and their name together.

Danny was eventually suspected when his side business and infidelity were unraveling his relationships, but the detectives assumed him too relenting to pull off the crime. As Ursula had the influence, they found who she hired and why them to present the evidence to the family. Danny was horrified and convinced to turn on Ursula, demanding answers. She said she saved the family, then he reacted by saying she tore the family apart. Ursula was arrested, Danny refusing to answer her shouts for him to do something.

Danny and Sandi were exonerated of guilt and released. (CI: "Shandeh")
