Danny Trumbello is an arsonist and murderer, hired to burn the Christmas tree lot of Louis Johnson to take out his business, only to kill him when he slept in the shed after his wife threw him out. Trumbull allegedly had information on the rape of Cookie Costello, which Sal Muñoz was convicted and imprisoned for, which Trumbello wanted to give for leniency that was to exonerate Muñoz. He named Costello's mister, Bobby Farina, as the rapist, ensuing a new investigation and retrial.

Farina had an alibi, and Muñoz's semen was found in the outfit Costello wore when she was raped and stabbed, confirming that Muñoz was the rapist all along. However, Muñoz was acquitted on the grounds of reasonable doubt.

Trumbello was found guilty of manslaughter and arson-for-hire and was imprisoned. (L&O: "Remand")
