Darnell Chenault is a teenage, black-American shooting victim of Laura Di Biasi. Chinault was with his friend, another black-American teenager named Michael Mosket, when Mosket sexually harassed Di Biasi on the subway. Di Biasi had been robbed, beaten, and raped by several black teenagers previously, which left her with rape trauma syndrome and a hateful desire for revenge against the group of attackers, as well as any other hoodlums or hoodlum-looking men and boys fitting the same profile, especially black. Di Biasi had a gun she used for shooting practice which she pulled and shot both teens with, killing Mosket and leaving Chenault with paraplegia.
Di Biasi's defense lawyer, Shambala Green, tried to paint Chenault and Mosket as having been ready to sexually assault Di Biasi, as Mosket previously had a sex crimes record. CrimeStoppers, a public service group which provoked Chenault into an outburst, also reenacted the shooting to paint a picture from Di Biasi's perspective. Di Biasi ultimately received a plea deal of probation after another woman publicly accused Chinault and, posthumously, Mosket of attempted rape. It's unknown what Chinault's status was considering the legal and public scrutiny against him. (L&O: "Subterranean Homeboy Blues")
