Declan Trask is a spiritual healer who raped a woman named Abby Clarke at one of his retreats, as well as being responsible for the murder of a man due to dealing and using heroin.
History[]
Trask grew up the son of a wealthy man, Tate Trask, who works for a hedge fund.
In college, Trask suffered from a drug addiction that caused him to be kicked out during his junior year. He ended up going to The Springs Rehab Center, where he participated in a neurolinguistic technique that helped him overcome his drug addiction. After leaving the rehab center, he learned how to use the same technique and proceeded to use it in order to take advantage of patients. Numerous women accused Trask of rape using hypnosis as a weapon, but the allegations were unsuccessful in penalizing Trask.
In court, he revealed to his lawyer the existence of a recording of Abby's rape. On the tape, she was portrayed as willing to have sex with him, but the team noticed his hypnotic technique and was ready to argue as much it in court. When the Special Victims Unit began investigating background information, they learned about a friend of Trask's who fatally overdosed in an empty house that Trask was seen fleeing from. On the stand, Barba ended up getting the jury to learn of the incident, which left them pitiless regarding Trask after leaving his friend to die. This led to Trask being convicted and imprisoned for Abby Clarke's rape. (SVU: "Spellbound")
