Defense Attorney Depago (first name unknown) is the representation for vigilante killer Hannah Welch, who killed her family's friend Carl Mullaly after sexually assaulting her for years. Depago set up major press coverage and argued the police didn't find the right suspects, but this only was on the bad side of the arraigning judge. Depago later tried to argue all the charges dropped, or at least probation, reprimanding the prosecution for not considering Welch being a victim.
Depago later spoke with Jack McCoy about Welch taking a plea for leniency in exchange for discussing the involvement of Ellie Harper, a director of a pedophile exposing show who ousted Mullaly, then set up the confrontation between Welch and Mullaly which led to the murder. Harper was successfully convicted of murder facilitation, and Welch was recommended a sentence reduction. (L&O: "Public Service Homicide")
