Law and Order

Diego Rodriguez was a lifeguard who was raped and murdered by Paul Greco.

Background[]

Diego and his family were poor, and he attempted to earn money by applying to be a lifeguard. Greco, who is in charge of the lifeguards in Rodriguez's area, gave Rodriguez the job in exchange for sexual favors. Over the course of the year as a lifeguard, the rape affects Diego's life, leading him to do more bodybuilding, taking jiujitsu classes, and breaking up with his girlfriend, Daniela Cruz.

Breakwater[]

His sister, Martina Rodriguez, also wanted to earn some money becoming a lifeguard and so she tried out for Greco, with Diego thinking Greco only liked men. However, after Greco started showing a liking towards Martina, Diego saw Martina come out of Greco's office upset. Diego then became worried about Martina and attacked Greco before leaving with Martina. Diego then started drinking and ended up getting arrested. When Detective Amanda Rollins and Sergeant Odafin Tutuola were called to Diego's cell, Diego confessed that he was raped by Greco.

When Diego was taken to the precinct for questioning, Diego tried to admit that he was drunk and didn't know what he was saying. Tutuola and Rollins managed to get the real story out of Diego and Diego explained in detail what Greco did to him. Martina then came into the precinct while Diego was being questioned. Greco was questioned by Captain Olivia Benson and Tutuola about Diego's rape and denied raping Diego and tried to act like he was cooperating.

Benson started questioning Greco about Martina, but Greco told Benson that he offered to train her to become a lifeguard. At the beach, Grace Muncy and Joe Velasco question Ronnie while Diego swims in the sea. However, as Muncy and Velasco walk across the beach, they notice that Diego is struggling to swim, and Diego starts drowning. Velasco and Muncy notice that the lifeguard isn't doing anything so Velasco goes in to help Diego. Ronnie then went after Velasco and tried to help Diego too. Velasco and Ronnie took Diego out of the water where he was taken in an ambulance while police question the lifeguard. At the precinct, Tutuola mentions to Benson that Diego died in the hospital.
