Don Sorenson is a father who feared his daughter Jill was kidnapped because of a call from her phone.

History[]

An unknown caller threatened to kill his daughter if $10,000 wasn't placed in a fast-food bag and left in a garbage can of the caller's choosing. Don brought a pistol with him, hoping to confront the caller, but he only saw a dumpster diver, James Caruso. Mistaking Caruso for the kidnapper, he screamed at him, demanding Jill's location, then inadvertently shot James and fled.

Don's cash withdrawal was traced back to him, and despite Jill still being missing and the kidnapper calling again, his wife Darlene revealed the shooting and gave the police the gun. As Don was being taken away, Jill returned home, revealing that the call was a scam, as she had skipped school with a friend and went to the movies. Her phone was stolen, likely while she was out. Calls placed to the caller's family led to the scammer himself, Sam Ahmed.

In the end, James survived, and the Sorensons paid all of James's hospital bills. ADA Rubirosa mentioned that the worst charge Don could face was first-degree assault. His legal fate is ultimately left unknown. (L&O: "Great Satan")
