Donald Housman is the fiancé and killer of Kelly Sommers. Housman hacked into Kelly’s emails and saw she was having an affair with Bradley Hagen, a lawyer and senator’s son. Housman snapped and beat Kelly to death, burying her in a sandlot before cutting off her arm and leaving it at the rubble of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Housman collected an insurance claim over Kelly’s death and, lying he’d put it to civil servant relief funds, instead spent it on himself and his new girlfriend, Leah Stanton.
Housman was brought on for testimony when Hagen was tried for murder, where his defense counsel, Kevin Hobart, tried to scare and rattle Housman with crime scene photos and Kelly’s belongings. It was finally revealed Housman killed Kelly when one of his lies unraveled: he said Kelly was off to work in the morning, but an evening bag was found among her possessions at Ground Zero. Housman was confronted with printouts of the emails in front of Leah, who was horrified a ring she was wearing was from the payout scam money. Housman barely defended himself, saying he killed Kelly because she cheated on him, and he really loved her while Hagen was just some rich lover. Leah ran out, and Housman was arrested.
Housman was found guilty of second-degree murder and obstruction of Justice and was imprisoned. (L&O: “The Ring”)
