E. Barton was a New York State Supreme Court judge who was murdered by Lloyd Wilkes as part of his campaign against judges who interfered too much with people's lives.
History[]
Barton was assigned to the case of white supremacist Wade Brownfeld and his group. When they started intimidating witnesses, she ruled that they be denied phone call and family visitation rights while in prison. This prompted Wilkes, an extremist who embarked on a campaign against judges who interfered too much with people's lives, to target her. He and his young accomplice, Clay Turner, broke into Barton's old address but realized the mistake and left.
They eventually tracked down Barton to her new address in Riverdale, Bronx. Barton's older son Oliver was killed first when he stumbled upon Wilkes and Clay. The shot woke up the entire family, and Barton locked up her younger children in the bathroom to protect them. She was then killed with a single shot, and her husband was left injured. Brownfeld was briefly suspected of being involved in the double murder but was eventually exonerated since he knew Barton lived in Riverdale and would not have ordered his followers to break into the wrong house.
