Edwin Sherin, or Ed Sherin, was a director, executive producer, and an actor on Law & Order. He also directed episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Homicide: Life on the Street.
Sherin executive-produced 163 episodes of Law & Order between 1993 and 2000.
Sherin was married to actress Jane Alexander, with whom he lives in New York City. They have four children - Alexander's son Jace, a television director who frequently worked for him during his time on L&O, and his three sons, Tony, Geoffrey, and Jon, from a previous marriage. He is the stepfather-in-law of actress Maddie Corman.
On May 4, 2017, in Lockport, Nova Scotia, Canada, at 87 years of age, Sherin passed away.
