Edith "Edie" Falco is an actress who guest-starred on four episodes of Law & Order before becoming a main cast member in Law & Order: True Crime. In the latter series, she played Leslie Abramson.
She is perhaps most famous for her role as the titular character in Nurse Jackie, which aired from 2009 to 2015 with Peter Facinelli, Merritt Wever, Dominic Fumusa, Paul Schulze, Stephen Wallem, and Betty Gilpin. She also played Carmela Soprano in the HBO crime drama series The Sopranos from 1999 to 2007 with Robert Iler and Michael Imperioli. She is also known for her role as Diane Whittlesey in HBO's prison drama Oz (1997–2000) with Christopher Meloni and Lee Tergesen.
In 2020, she appeared as LAPD Chief Abigail "Tommy" Thomas in the short-lived CBS crime drama Tommy (with Michael Chernus and Tonye Patano). She later starred in the third season of American Crime Story (with Sarah Paulson, Annaleigh Ashford, and Margo Martindale).
