Edward Herrmann (born July 21, 1943) was an actor who played three different characters in Law & Order. He was well-known for his role as Richard Gilmore on the TV series Gilmore Girls (with Kelly Bishop, Lauren Graham, Milo Ventimiglia, and Liza Weil). He also starred in the films The Lost Boys (with Dianne Wiest) and Richie Rich (with Rory Culkin, Christine Ebersole, John Larroquette, and Stephi Lineburg).
He died on December 31, 2014 at the age of 71 from brain cancer.
