Ellen Travis is the older sister of dead alleged murder victim Susan Sidarsky.

History[]

Both Ellen and Susan were repeatedly raped by their father, Robert Sidarsky, but they never got justice, never told a soul, and grew to live their own separate lives. Ellen married and persisted into her adult life despite the rape trauma always haunting her, especially with a trust fund Robert arranged for her to turn away from the rapes.

Susan, under the name "Gretchen Quinn" and numerous others across the country, sought counseling, had numerous affairs, such as with a journalist and even her therapist, and later died from falling out a window and crashing onto a car only in a red slip. Ellen was tracked when Susan's real name was found out. She gave her accounts of her sister's life, provided an alibi, identified Susan in the morgue, and arranged for the transfer of her remains. Detectives convinced her to stay when suspecting Robert of tracking and killing Susan, hoping to get a confession.

Ellen agreed when finding out Robert had a third daughter with another wife. She bitterly rejected Robert and started a confrontation about the rapes, saying she would testify in front of a jury to get Robert thrown in jail. To the surprise of everyone, she pulled out a paper her husband found in their birth town's paper, while adding she'd never let Robert near her family. Reading it aloud, she revealed it as Susan's self-written obituary, revealing she killed herself and blamed Robert and the men she had affairs with her life being ruined. Ellen then crumpled the paper, hit Robert with it, and started to cry for herself and Susan. (SVU: "A Single Life")
