Ellis Griffin is a man who raped a woman he attended a party with, Janie Spears.

While attending a party, Ellis raped Janie Spears while she was intoxicated and even was witnessed by a passing bystander who easily saw through him lying about her passing out by garbage. Ellis was taken into custody but his father Patrick arrived to clear up the matter. Patrick is also revealed to be Lieutenant Benson's former partner, which made the trial hard for Benson.
Eventually, Ellis was sentenced to two years in prison after deciding to plead guilty and feeling remorse for his actions. The sentence sparked a public outcry, particularly from Benson after she found out that Patrick tried to help his son avoid a stricter sentence by creating reasonable doubt. (SVU: "Rape Interrupted")
