Eric Burnett is a rapist responsible for two sexual assaults in his apartment building.
Background[]
Burnett owned an apartment building, subletting to people for extra income. He kept meticulous records for each tenant in his building and assured them if any trouble were to take place the cameras would catch it. Secretly, he was a rapist who preyed on the women that stayed in his building by breaking into the room and assaulting them, after holding them at knifepoint. Burnett would wear a mask or hoodie to hide his identity, and used a condom to prevent leaving DNA while covertly avoiding the cameras. He carried out at least one rape but nothing came of it.
In the Wind[]
In 2025, Burnett raped Ella Parsons and slashed her neck with his knife before fleeing the apartment. On his way out, he bumped into his building's superintendent Jorge Ruiz, who saw his face. Parsons called SVU, who looked into the assault and contacted Burnett who feigned shock and claimed he was out of town visiting his brother while giving them records of his guests. Unknown to him, Ruiz was found and after being persuaded, he showed the footage of the perp and SVU discovered Burnett's role in the attack when Ruiz revealed he saw his face and his alibi was dismantled.
In court, Burnett's lawyer tried to defend him by stating that he couldn't have done it. However, Burnett was dismayed to hear from A.D.A Dominick Carisi, Jr. that they have a witness that saw him exiting the building on the night of Parsons' assault. Before the trial, Ruiz was nearly detained by ICE and went into hiding. However, SVU found and arrested him to prevent his deportation, enabling his testimony. Burnett's lawyer tried to contradict her, especially with his own felony though Ruiz was resolute by claiming he definitely Burnett that night. In the end, he was found guilty on the rape and given the maximum sentence.(SVU: "In the Wind")
