Eric Khalaby is a Muslim-American lawyer who was murdered by his cousin-in-law Ben Faoud to stop his terroristic activities.

Eric married Faoud's cousin Diane, and Faoud and his other accomplices later roped Eric into a terrorist plot to detonate radioactive explosives in New York City. They planned to use uranium that they ordered, which would be coming into a port from London. However, British authorities caught on to the package and already replaced the material with duds. In addition, Eric had a change of heart and decided to report Faoud and his accomplices to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Diane became aware of the plan once she found the propaganda sent to Eric, and she called Faoud to inform him about what she knew without realizing his own complicity. After Eric and Faoud fought, Faoud and one of his accomplices later kidnapped Eric and beheaded him on live camera, disguising it as a hate crime committed by white supremacists. Eric was left dead at the scene, while a fake white supremacist group banner was left behind and the video disseminated to the media to divert authorities.
