Everett Drake is a Newark, New Jersey Councilman and the estranged father of Ella Christiansen. When she went searching for him to get in touch with her birth family, she got a job under him as his secretary in his campaign team, eventually revealing the truth to him. Everett was more than moved by the revelation, but the two became infatuated with each other and started an incestuous affair, even in spite of Drake already being married.
Drake and Christiansen conceived two children together, with Christansen killing one son and nearly murdering the other one out of moments of what would later be diagnosed as postpartum psychosis. When Christiansen was tracked, so was Everett, leading to the revelation of the affair, to the horror of his own wife. Everett still loved Christiansen and even posted her bail and funded her defense. She was found not guilty by insanity and institutionalized. Despite detectives suspecting Drake ordered for the babies' murders, but Christiansen said she was only responsible for her babies' maltreatment, admitting she killed her first and tried to murder her second, despite her previously alleging a stillbirth.
Everett's career was destroyed and his wife filed for divorce, and he was even barred from custody of his son/grandson. When giving his baby back, he swore to not stop trying to provide a home for him. (SVU: "Taboo")
