Frank Goren (1958-August 24, 2008) was the son of Frances Goren and her husband William Goren, the older maternal half-brother of Detective Robert Goren, and the father of Donny Carlson (with Evelyn Carlson) and Molly.

He was addicted to both drugs and gambling. This caused him to constantly ask his family for money to feed his habits.

His occupation is unclear. Frances once claimed that he was a scientist, but little else is known about it.

After not seeing him for a long time, Robert sees Frank outside of a church, homeless and waiting for handouts. He tries to get Frank to come with him, but he refuses. Instead, he tells him to meet at the same place on Sunday to go visit his mother and leaves Frank with $50 and his coat. Frank doesn't show up for the meeting, though his mother thinks he would still show up. Later, a body is found wearing Robert's coat, but Bobby sees that it is not his brother; Robert thinks Frank sold his coat to another person for drugs. (CI: "Brother's Keeper")

Frank does eventually start visiting his mother when she was put in hospice care by Robert. He mentions to his mother that Robert was seeing someone, still mistaking Alexandra Eames as Robert's girlfriend (like he did before). He looks to be in better shape as he shows up in a suit that he said he bought after getting a lucky streak in Atlantic City. He also secretly asks his brother about their mother's finances, to which Robert says she has none and is just living off Medicad at this point. Robert and Frank later meet at a resturant and Frank showed him a picture of Mark Ford Brady, who Frank remembers as "Uncle Mark" and who used to drop off gifts for Robert. (CI: "Endgame")

He had a son, Donny Carlson, which was unknown to Frances and Robert. After Frances' death, he informed Robert of Donny's existence, and asked for his help getting the boy out of the Tates psychiatric facility in which prisoners were being abused. When Donny escaped, Robert asked for Frank's help in finding him; when Frank refused, Robert disowned him. (CI: "Untethered")

Frank was murdered by Robert's nemesis Nicole Wallace at the behest of Declan Gage, who wished to "free" Robert from his troubled past. (CI: "Frame")
