Freddo Parisi was a racist 23-year veteran police officer assigned to the 27th Precinct who shot and killed a black honors student named Tommy Richardson who was selling drugs.
The investigation into the shooting by Sergeant Max Greevey and Detective Mike Logan, along with EADA Benjamin Stone and ADA Paul Robinette, revealed that Richardson was in the process of buying both drugs and a gun, but was interrupted during the sale by Freddo who shot him in the heat of the moment. Freddo proceeded to plant a gun on him and claim self-defense.
Earlier in his career, Freddo was involved in an officer-involved shooting.
During his murder trial, while awaiting the jury's verdict in his holding cell, Freddo shot himself to death. Stone later lamented that even if Freddo had simply owned up to shooting Richardson and admit he made a mistake instead of planting a gun, no jury would ever have convicted him. (L&O: "Poison Ivy")
