Gabriela Sosa is a nine-year-old girl who was part of a sex trafficking ring before being rescued.

History[]

Gabriela was separated from her mother Maria at the U.S.-Mexico border and, after becoming lost in the foster system, became part of a child sex trafficking ring, which quickly caught the attention of the Special Victims Unit. She was eventually rescued and the SVU worked to reunite her with Maria.

At first, she was able to see her mother via video call, but the call was stopped. When she was sent to an immigration center, she revealed that the man who had come for her was the same one who took her away from her mother to begin with. Lieutenant Benson arrested the man, which kept her in the custody of the SVU. During her time at the precinct, she bonded with Detective Rollins and figured out she was pregnant.

When the arrest was overturned by the court system, she left the precinct with the man for an immigration center. Knowing Gabriela was upset, ADA Stone headed to Chicago and met with his old boss, State's Attorney Jefferies, to ask him for his help. After they spoke, Jefferies headed to New York, where he met with Benson. With the help of a judge that Jefferies had become acquainted with, they pushed through the asylum petition for Gabriela and her mother, allowing them to be reunited and stay in America.
