Gary Payton was the father of Zoey Payton, the roommate of Sylvia Moon that was killed by the latter.

History[]

Gary was approached by Detectives Goren and Eames after they discovered that Zoey was Sylvia's roommate, Detective Eames asked Gary is Zoey ever showed signs of suicide and Gary says that Zoey would keep things to herself and be dark like his wife. Gary also mentions how Zoey had broken up with some by which most likely contributed to Zoey's "suicide". When Detective Eames asks about Zoey's roommate, Sylvia Gary tells Detective Eames that Sylvia had found Zoey dead and tells her how it broke Sylvia's heart as they were good friends. 

Suddenly, Detective Goren asks Gary if the living room changed much to which Gary said that it didn't. Detectives Goren and Eames realize that the window in the living room looked the exact same as one of Sylvia's paintings. When asked by Detective Goren if Sylvia has ever been to the house to which Gary says that she didn't. When the detectives noticed that there was a painting that looked exactly like Sylvia's painting Detective Goren asks of the origin of the painting and Gary tells Detective Goren that the painting was made by Zoey in her freshmen year.

The detectives use the information from Gary to conclude that Sylvia killed Zoey and took her painting out of jealousy. (CI: "Art")
