George Brouchard is a Canadian man who kidnapped Maddie Flynn and Tanya Garcia.

Background[]

Ever since his youth, George had a history of criminal offenses, ranging from burglary, aggravated assault, and drug counts. However, he evaded severe prison sentences after each arrest were pled down to a minor charge. George subsequently became a grifter, never staying in one spot for long and started to do crimes on a dark website.

On SVU[]

A pedophile developed a fixation on Maddie Flynn and secretly contacted George on the site, promising to pay him a large amount should he give him Maddie. George accepted the task, taking to stalking Maddie to learn her everyday routine until the moment to snatch her would arise. While Maddie was out shopping with her parents, George acted on the chance and abducted her in brought daylight, drugging her to keep her complacent. Captain Benson saw Maddie and George in the latter's car and noticed that something was off, but she decided not to intervene. She later became obsessed with rescuing Maddie after being called to the scene of her kidnapping and realizing that her original hunch was right. During the manhunt, Benson and the Special Victims Unit found Tanya alive in a tub in a body bag and rescued her. (SVU: "Tunnel Blind")

After Benson received a tip about a sighting of George and Maddie on a train, she recognized them in surveillance footage. Benson then continued to investigate and partnered up with Agent Shannah Sykes, Sullivan Barnes, and Harrison Clay. The squad then found George on a train and realized that he sold Maddie off to someone else. In interrogation, George tried to deny the allegation but was dismayed to learn that Benson saw him in the van with Maddie and that SVU have evidence in the form of Tanya, who survived his attack on her. With the odds stack against him, he confessed to kidnapping Maddie and Tanya before giving them the name of the man who he sold her to: Leonard Fleming. Benson and Sykes then tracked Fleming down and rescued Maddie. (SVU: "Zone Rouge")

Brouchard was brought to court for the charges, after which it was revealed that he sexually abused Maddie. Brouchard was initially found guilty but one of the jurors had developed a fixation on him and changed her vote. Seeing a chance of freedom, he fired his lawyer and represented himself in court, where he repeatedly harassed Eileen and Maddie. Eventually, Brouchard was held hostage by Eileen for his harassment, requiring him to be saved by NYPD but Eileen was not charged for this. In court, he was found guilty of all charges and he pleaded no protest to the decision and was promptly imprisoned. (SVU: "Combat Fatigue")
