Law and Order

Gia Eskas (born April 24, 1987) is a victim who was repeatedly raped by her uncle George Zane since she was a teenager. As a result of the sexual abuse, she suffered an emotional breakdown, did drugs and attempted to commit suicide on at least two occasions.

Background[]

Her father was terminally ill and it took a toll on Gia. She looked to her uncle George (her aunt's husband) as father-figure. However, George was a pedophile who proceeded to rape her throughout her childhood, even forcing her to take pictures for him to relive the abuse.

As a result of the sexual abuse by her uncle, she suffered an emotional breakdown, did drugs and attempted to commit suicide on at least two occasions. At one point, she accused George but then took it back to accuse other men, causing doubts to rise until she was institutionalized for help.

Educated Guess[]

After George disguised himself as a doctor and raped Gia in the mental hospital, she was questioned by SVU detectives Benson and Rollins, especially when they discovered she traded sexual favors with a guard to get a gun for protection but Gia refuses to answer their questions, because she feels that nobody would believe her. Eventually, Gia admits that it was her uncle and that the reason she made false allegations against other men in her life in the past is because nobody believed her the first time she told them that George raped her.

When the detectives arrested George, he claims a consensual affair even producing a love note that she gave him in her childhood. However, he states they waited until she was 17 to have sex. Gia was told this but claims George forced her to write it to rationalize his abuse before she brought up the pictures and the detectives decided to search. Eventually after searching George's house, the detectives find nude pictures of Gia underneath her aunt and uncle's bed, which proves George had been raping Gia since she was 14 years old. It was also implied that her Aunt Bella always knew about the rapes and covered for him while her mother Diane was shocked at the truth and broke down in guilt at doubting her.

At the end, Gia was visited by the detectives to tell her that her uncle George will be sentenced to life in prison with all of the photos he had, and she takes solace in knowing that. However, she voices how she does not want to see her mother for the time being. The detectives also tell Gia that she has her life back and wish her well in her recovery.(SVU: "Educated Guess")
